National Taiwan Museum presents our newest permanent exhibition, turn of the century episode 1 – “Discover Taiwan: A revisit to Taiwan’s Natural History and the Historians”. The exhibit are the collections obtained during the handover period post-Japanese rule. The exhibit consists of 367 pieces of taxidermy and artifacts, 265 belongs to Natural Taiwan Museum. Out of the 265 piece on display, many of which are carefully organized and labeled by their original discoverers; such as Mori Ushinosuke and Kikuchi Yonetaro, they were the original collectors to exhibits such as lukus of the Atayals, prehistoric stoneware and bird taxidermies. We also have other collections that may not derive from renowned historians, but are also of significant importance, and are on show here for the first time ever, such as the recent discoveries of a Sakuma Family’s collection of Mona Rudao’s sea shell pearl anklet in the 1920s.

National Taiwan Museum’s Land Bank Exhibition Hall’s permanent exhibition “Prehistoric Exhibit – The Living, The History and The Evolution” The exhibit consist of records and fossils which demonstrates the mysteries of evolution; and the early life forms that had to adapt and transform to cope with the harsh landscapes in the very beginning.

The “Land Bank of Taiwan Bank History Exhibit” is held at the old Land Bank Head Quarter’s (Formerly the Kangyo Bank Building) treasury and 2^nd floor exhibition hall. The exhibit reveals how things were run decades past with a showing of bank books and records, number plates, manuals, old distance measuring devices, land reform manuscripts/documents, bonds and other rare documents and artifacts of the past. You will be sure to understand the Bank’s history but also through the history, a peek into Taiwan’s rise in its financial developments, land reforms, National developments and economic growths.
