 How to use the THSR Pass:

Step1: Present your passpoet and a valid THSR Pass exchange order

Step2: The next day to 89 days after payment, swap the exchange order for a THSR Pass at any THSR station counter.

Step3: Collect your Pass/One-Way Ticket at any THSR ticketing counter.

Step4:Present the THSR Pass/One-Way Ticket, and your passport to the staffs for inspection to enter and exit via the manned gates.

【Who is qualified to purchase?】
・Only “short-term entry foreign visitors” are eligible for the Pass and One-Way Ticket. Visitors who entered Taiwan with a R.O.C passport or a valid alien resident certificate are not applicable for these products.
・Short-term entry refers to persons who entered Taiwan with an entry document with less than 180 days for one-time stay. Therefore, when passengers use the Pass/Ticket, you must present their passports and valid entry documents that adhere to the regulation above (e.g. Visa-exempt entry stamp, Visa, Exit & Entry Permit Taiwan Republic of China, APEC Business Travel Card) for verification.
・For Child Pass/Ticket, children over the age of 6 years and under 12 years old may purchase the Child Pass/Ticket; and children under 6 years old who do not occupy a seat are not required to purchase a Pass/Ticket, but those who would like to occupy a seat will have to purchase a child Pass/Ticket. The children passport must be provided to confirm their eligibility when redeeming or boarding. If the identity of the child found is ineligible, the Pass/Ticket will be refused to redeem and board.
・THSRC and TRA reserve the right to refuse unqualified passengers to exchange, collect, and use the Pass/Ticket.

【Redemption and booking times】
・Passengers must complete travel date redemption within 90 days (inclusive, based on Taiwan time) from the payment date. However, travel date(s) can only be selected after the date of payment.
・The redemption date starts from 00:00 on the 28th day before the travel date. If the times are adjusted, the THSRC will announce the information on the corporate website.
・After redemption, passengers can book reserved seats in standard class on THSR trains. However, bookings for trains on the reserved travel date must be made at least 1 hour before departure time.

【How do you cancel/modify redemption and booking 】
Before collecting the Pass/One-Way Ticket, if you need to cancel the travel date(s), please process it before the following deadlines. If the deadlines are not met, the cancellation will not be processed:
・For passengers who have completed online redemption but have not booked a seat on the first travel date, please cancel the redemption online before 23:59 of the day. (based on Taiwan time)
・For passengers who have completed online redemption and have booked a seat on the first travel date, please cancel the redemption at least 30 minutes before the time of departure for the first train booked on the day. All originally booked seats will be canceled simultaneously.
・After canceling the redeemed dates, you can redeem new travel dates.

Online processing will not be applicable for Pass/Ticket being collected. The travel date(s) can only be modified once. If you need to modify the date(s) or booking(s), please carry your Pass/Ticket and your original copy of passport to any THSR ticketing counter within ticketing service hours. (Note: ticketing service times of THSR counters vary from station to station)
・For passengers who have not booked a seat on the first travel date, please proceed to a THSR ticketing counter before 23:59 of the day.
・For passengers with a booking on the first travel date, please proceed to a THSR ticketing counter at least 30 minutes before the first train booked on the day departs.
・For Joint Pass holders, if you have already redeemed the Taiwan Railway Joint Pass, the travel dates cannot be modified.

If you need to cancel your THSR reservation, please do so at least 30 minutes before the original train departs. No cancellation will be processed after the train departs.


Pass/Ticket holders are entitled to travel in non-reserved seating cars of standard class on THSR trains. Additional charges will not be incurred if the holder requires a reserved seat.
・When taking reserved standard seat with the PASS, please board the train in accordance with the seating information specified in the inner pages of the PASS during the reservation.

The Pass/Ticket holder should properly retain the Pass/Ticket. Before or during the trip, if “the Pass/Ticket” is lost, another ticket must be purchased and “Pass/Ticket” shall be reported as lost to the original agency. After the trip, the passenger can use the found “Pass/Ticket” and the other purchased ticket or proof of purchase of the “Pass/Ticket” to apply for a refund for “the Pass/Ticket” from the original agency within one year of the first travel date revealed on the original “the Pass/Ticket”. After the agency and THSRC confirm that “the Pass/Ticket” has not been used and a refund has not been requested previously, and the buyer, travel date, and other information of “the Pass/Ticket” and the other purchased ticket are identical, the refund will be processed.
Refund Policy:80% of the amount charged for the original Pass/Ticket minus processing fees of THSR and agency will be refunded.

・The PASS can only be used by the individual owner and is not transferable.
If the passenger is unable to present their passport or entry documents, is not the person on the Pass/Ticket, or violates the regulations in any way, THSRC and TRA have the right to deny Pass/Ticket redemption. Passengers who have already used the Pass/Ticket must pay for another ticket after the fact. The original Pass/Ticket is not eligible for cancellation or refunds.
・The PASS is limited to use within the valid period. The passenger is permitted to take the Taiwan High Speed Rail trains for an unlimited number of times during the valid period. The valid period of the PASS should be specified when exchanging; it is calculated based on the consecutive accumulation of days from the starting date, within 30 days from the date the PASS was issued.
・During peak hours or national holidays, seat availability is not guaranteed. Should seat reservation not be available due to full booking, please make use of the non-reserved seat service.
・When traveling with the PASS, the passenger is limited to enter and exit the stations via the manned gates; please bring the original copy of passport for verification purposes. If the passport cannot be presented, or the identity on the PASS does not match the passenger, the passenger will not be allowed to board the train; those who have already boarded the train will be asked to purchase another ticket.
・The PASS does not accept any form of change or return. If the PASS is lost, damaged or stolen, no reissuance, application for loss or refunds will be given.
・During extraordinary circumstances such as train delays, interruption of service or cancellation of trains, the PASS will not be compensated for, nor will the valid period be extended.
・Only the original copy of the PASS is valid; any photocopying, alteration, forging or damage that is beyond recognition will be deemed invalid.

 

★Before redemption, returns can be accepted within the validity period (within 90 days from the reservation application date). Returns will be subject to a 10% processing fee.
